Oud is used to complement the scents in our collection rather then overpower them giving our fragrances a refined scent.

The great thing about Oud is that it lingers on the skin longer then other fragrances. It also helps other fragrances to remain on the skin.

How to look after your Oud Perfume

Store Fragrances at the right temperature 

If you live in the UK, it is easier to store your fragrances at the optimal temperature. It is better to store Oud perfumes or any perfume, in a cool, dark place with a room temperature between 16 to 22 degrees.

Storing it in a room where there are huge fluctuations in temperature or direct sunlight is not ideal. 

Storing fragrances incorrectly degrades the fragrance. Hot temperatures affect the chemical bonds in fragrances so keep them out of the bathroom to avoid steam affecting the compounds in the perfume.

If the temperature is too low, that can also alter the fragrance more quickly.

Where to apply perfume

A common mistake when applying perfume is to rub it into the wrists. This heats up the perfume and alters the scent. Meaning, you’ll disrupt the top and middle notes of your fragrance and will only be left with the base notes.

Perfume is activated by body heat but the rubbing action weakens the scent.

Ideally you should be applying perfume to pulse points. These are located on your wrist, behind the ears, at the bottom of the throat, the inside of the elbow, and behind the knees. Apply but don't rub!

Applying to moisturised skin

Perfume clings better to moisturised skin. An unscented moisturiser works best for this.

Carrying Fragrance in your handbag 

If you carry your fragrance in your handbag, you’re not only exposing it to different temperatures, but you’ll also cause the bottle to move around constantly. By shaking the bottle, you’ll expose the perfume to excess air, which will breakdown and disrupt the fragrance over time.

Keeping fragrances for too long

As much as we love to savour our beauty products, holding onto your favorite fragrance means that more often than not, by the time you reach the end of the bottle, the fragrance will have altered slightly. The more oxygen into the bottle (like when you’ve used 70% of your perfume), the more the fragrance molecules will break down and modify the fragrance.

This means investing in a large bottle is not always a good idea, in fact, it is far better to purchase a smaller bottle to keep the fragrance fresh.
